Ports

First, what are ports?

Ports are the name given to the directories containing the recipe and the files needed to build the package.

A port generally contains only the Pkgfile, a md5sum file and a sha256sum file.

Where are ports?

You can get ports from many repositories.

Note that Pkg++ users often like to use httpup, git or rsync to share ports. The tool “ports”, from Crux, may also be useful, as it allows to automatically update you ports repositories.
